“I feel like I can take on the world.” – UOPX Alumna Wendy R.
It was always the person to go to to try out any new software and that really followed me throughout my accounting career so when I decided to go back to school instead of getting an accounting degree I decided to get a degree in IT so that I could help any accounting department that I worked for with my IT skills it’s very very easy to apply what I learned in the classroom to what I’m doing at work because they cover it’s a wide range of Technology subjects I took what I learned in the database there is class and I went back to work and I created a database that they still use today taking one class at a time to get my degree help me focus on the curriculum that we were doing throughout the five weeks you know I can’t tell you enough how much I loved the experience it was tough at times but if I had to do it over again I would do do it the same way and I look at my degree every day I feel accomplished I feel credible I feel worthy and I feel like I can take on the world

The flexibility of being able to go online was enormous
My name is Don Richards I earned a Bachelor of Science in Management degree from the University of Phoenix in the online program.
What motivated me to go back to school, it was being able to be an example for my children, but, also, I wanted to earn the bachelor’s degree so that I would be eligible to move up through the company.
When I started with the company, I had an associate’s degree, and then started on the tuition reimbursement path.
Well, the problem was, every time I would relocate and I would go to a different school, some classes would transfer, some wouldn’t, and then I would have to start over again.
The company came to me later and said, “We really want you to finish the degree, but we’d like you to switch to the University of Phoenix where you’ll be able to keep your degree program even though you’re traveling, or even though you relocate.”
The flexibility of being able to go online was enormous.
Being able to work on projects with people from literally all over the world and still be able to produce an outcome was very helpful at working for a multinational Fortune 500 company where I do the same things
but it also helped me to be a better manager in terms of, again, being able to compartmentalize, being able to prioritize, being able to communicate better.
That aspect of the University of Phoenix online program was incredibly helpful in that way.
I would say to somebody who’s considering going back to school, don’t delay.
Finishing your degree does create opportunity for you but I could never have gotten the degree if I had not gone to University of Phoenix.

I think the role of a counselor is to be an agent of change
I think the role of a counselor is to be an agent of change.
I help people change their lives.
I was limited with my psychology degree, just a bachelor’s. I wasn’t able to do the things that I really wanted to do and help people.
I wanted to really understand people and why people do the things that they do.
The counseling degree just helped me to fine-tune all of that.
I chose University of Phoenix for my master’s degree in counseling because I was working full-time and I needed something that was convenient that would work with my schedule but it was the faculty that really made a difference in my education.
The stories that they would share about working in private practice or working in the field, that enhanced any material that we were learning about.
The presentations and learning teams definitely helped me to be better socially because I had to work with other people. I had to present in front of people.
The counseling degree at the University of Phoenix has helped me to be able to do what I do every day and help people change their lives.

I have a bachelor’s degree. I did that, and I was almost 40 when I did it.
My name is Jodi Kennedy, and I have a Bachelor of Science in Management from University of Phoenix.
What motivated me to go back to school was just knowing that I could not advance in the current job that I had at the time.
I knew I could do that job. I knew that I could probably do it better than some of the people that were doing it, but without that degree, they wouldn’t even give me the opportunity.
I worked full-time at the same time I was going to school, so it was really great that there was flexible hours.
The one class at a time was great because I could handle that with my workload.
I’m proud to be a Phoenix because I just loved the experience while I was there. The faculty members helped guide me through the process.
Having faculty members working in the field that they’re teaching was a big deal.
It was huge for me because I tended to listen more, to take in more of what they were giving me because I knew that they were going through it. They’d experienced it, and they knew what they were talking about.
Just saying, “I have a degree. I have a bachelor’s degree,” I did that, and I was almost 40 when I did it.
It was just the greatest experience in my life, and I’m so glad that I did it.
